Smallville turns Clark into Superman

That was good stuff. I laughed so hard at Booster Gold. A Super Hero with sponsors all over his suit. That is funny and brilliant. Why aren't more Super Heroes going after major corporate sponsors these days? Aquaman is now sponsored by Sea World and PETA. Wolverine is now sponsored by Happy Nails Salon and Spandex. Batman is sponsored by Gotham Sky Divers Association and Gotham Pest Control. The Flash is now sponsored by Fed Ex and G3 Flash Drives. Hawk Man is sponsored by Southwest. I personally find the entire concept hilarious. Could Booster Gold be more of a cheesy character? I think not. They even added the extra twinkle from the teeth when he smiled, cheesy lines, and overly acted poses for the paparazzi. Booster Gold is the quasi super hero you love to hate.

Super Awesomeness at it's best! Smallville has been very clever in it's writing not to use any Superman tag lines and Superman traditions directly, but rather sneaky and round about ways.

Clark Kent has finally embraced his alter ego as the bumbling fool that clumsily follows Lois Lane around like a lost puppy. I like how they have set it up as a plan to do so. It's a nice twist from the Superman movies and a flash back to season one when Clark was like that around Lana; and didn't understand why and now it's intentional. I'm loving the direction Smallville is taking with Clark turning into Superman.

If their is any doubt in your mind that Tom Welling is the new Superman then you need to watch the last episode. Maybe it was just me, but when Clark ran into the phone booth for the Super speedy change; I about died of happiness. Way to fit that in Smallville and the end of the episode with the traditional shirt ripping open was good too. What I next from Smallville? I don't know, but I can't wait to watch.

Thank you for giving us Superman back, Smallville!

Fringe on FOX

The Last Episode of Fringe was Awesome!

Friday's episode of Fringe could not have tried any harder to satisfy the geek inside of me and they did. I'm a big advocate of this show and have enjoyed the dual universe dilemma that has been on going. Plus, it never hurts to have Spock, Leonard Nemoy, as a guest staring genius friend of Walter's, John Noble, and how how much fun must it be for, Anna Torv, Olivia Dunham, to channel his character and impersonate his speech patterns. I am fascinated by dual personalities and split time on characters by actors. Playing the same person, but in two different ways can not be an easy task for any actor/actress. Creating a believable character is a difficult process that a lot of film actors/actresses don't get to see until it has been releases on the big screen. It is the director and editor that actually take the best takes from the actor/actress and create from those the actual character and their traits. With such a short tuen around process on TV it becomes more important to capture the essence of the character before they say action. Their is no room for error and not enough time create that feeling in the editing room. I believe. I thought Anna Torv did a great job interpreting the mannerisms and voice of Leonard Nemoy. Great job, Anna.

I also have a fondness for comics and cartoons. This last episode of Fringe went total cartoon on me. Awesome! They looked cool as cartoons and it was an inventive way to use it in the story line. It kind of had an early 90's or late 80's cartoon look and feel about it, and they could easily put out the entire show in that format and I would still watch it.

Of course to get to this magical cartoon world they would have to do LSD, which Walter is very familiar with, and enter into Olivia's mind; which is full of pit falls. I had a good laugh when Agent Phillip Broyles, Lance Reddick, accidentally got dosed with acid and started tripping balls. Lance was very convincing and funny yet sad at the same time. Good job.

I am very excited to see how the rest of the season plays out. Will one of the universes be destroyed? Can peace be made or is the machine be used for destruction?

Tune in to find out.

To Superman or not to Superman?

Smallville is back and it's got a double dose of Tom Welling, as Clark Kent/The Blur/Smallville/Evil Clark or what ever other nickname you prefer and I like that they are playing with dual universes. It's very Fringe of them. It must be cool to be able to play, in one episode, the good Clark Kent and the bad Clark Kent from the other universe. This is a great episode to begin the ending of the series and it is completed by a Kent vs Kent, Clark vs Clark, Good vs Evil battle of the Super kind; that is over before you can blink.

It was good to see John Schneider again in the episode.

I missed that good ole Duke boy!

Don't get too excited though if you are watching it on your dvr and fast forward through the little teasers coming back from the commercials you will miss some great stuff. Like a great shot of Tom Welling standing still, very stoic, and the shadow that he casts wears the cape flapping from his shoulders behind him in the wind.

Leaving the question all Smallville fans are debating!

When do you show Clark Kent as Superman?

I've listened to a lot of podcasts and read a number of Blogs, Twitters, and Facebook discussions about it; and there are a number of opinions out there.

Show him in full Superman costume saving the day or just a glimpse of him flying off? Just barely show the emblem or a shadow of the cape? Don't show anything or show it all? To Superman or not too Superman? That is the question?

There is no way to please every geek and nerd out there with the ending of WB's Smallville saga, but you can give us a few alternate endings on the DVD release.

I'm just saying?! "That would be cool"

So.......

My opinion is simple. I have not been watching this show, religiously, for ten seasons to get a crap ending with a lame teaser of what he will become. Tom Welling is every bit Superman to me as Christopher Reeves was and always will be.

I would have no problem seeing Tom Welling in the last ten minutes of the series turn from Clark Kent into Superman and save Metropolis and Lois Lane or at least have him flying of, through the clouds, in the suit. I think that Tom Welling has put so much time and development into this character that it would fall flat and feel awkward if he didn't wear the suit. Don't you? It would be another LOST ending!$&@?! It is an honor to wear the Superman suit and I think Tom Welling has earned the right to end an era and great television show as Superman.
